My journals and notebooks are bound in tough buffalo hide and contain blank pages of acid-free handmade paper. Some books are also available with cartridge paper as an alternative.

The paper in my journals is stitched directly into the leather binding. This is an extremely robust style of binding, and allows you to open the book completely flat at any page without danger of weakening the binding. In contrast, almost all factory-made books employ a glued binding, which will easily fracture and disintegrate if the book is forced to lie flat.
